Discovery Science Discovery Science is designed for teachers of young children (pre-school and kindergarten). Science for early elementary needs to be hands-on and process oriented and emphasize a constructivist approach to learning science. Come and participate is several fun and creative activities aimed at the natural curiosity and wonder of young children.

Project Wild Project Wild is sponsored the California Department of Fish and Game and is an award winning, K-12, interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife. Project Wild provides balanced and objective materials backed by sound educational practices and theory that teach students how to think, not what to think. Workshop participants will have an opportunity to experience first hand the excitement of several Project Wild activities. Grades K-12

Bats, Creatures of the Night
 
This is your chance to discover the world of bats, their amazing adaptations, habits and ecology. You will take away a wide assortment of materials that will enable you to teach students about these wonderfully complex creatures in a fun and engaging way.

The Journey Home
 
This workshop takes a look at animal migration focusing on some of California’s migratory species. Several activities will be presented that can be used to teach your own students about animal migration and its connection to California diverse natural environment. Grades K-8

 
Wait ‘Till I Get My Hands on That A wise man once said, “If you don’t make a mess, you don’t teach science.” SCIENCE IS DOING, NOT READING. Come and experience new hands-on activities that use simple, everyday materials, that emphasize science processes, not “right answers” and learn techniques for creating your own unique science activities. Grades 5-8

 
Nutz and Boltz Science
 
Would you like to make your science class easier to teach and more effective? Attend this practical workshop. The presentation will give an overview of the organization, structure, and process of science. Participants will learn techniques of organization and presentation that will improve the effectiveness of their science teaching. Grades 5-8

 
Investigations in Life Science Experience a variety of stimulating hand-on activities focusing on earth science. These labs are designed to assist students to learn important earth science concepts, as well as give them opportunity to experience the process of science. Workshop participants will take away several classroom ready labs. Grades 7-10

 
Investigations in Physical Science Experience a variety of stimulating hand-on activities focusing on physical science. These labs are designed to assist students to learn important physical science concepts, as well as give them opportunity to experience the process of science. These labs are designed to assist students to learn important earth science concepts, as well as give them opportunity to experience the process of science.
